My name is Sherri Berry and I am a California credentialed teacher! My preschool is child centered. This means I will be observant and responsive to what children do. Because children all mature at different rates and in different areas, I take great care and consideration and try to always provide the appropriate activity for each individual child. His or her sense of accomplishment is attained through a varied curriculum, which gives many chances for satisfaction and the thrill of discovery about self and the world. I believe in creating the physical and psychological environment that encourages children to play and direct their own cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Through play, children are free to move about, touch things, try things out, to explore, to test themselves and practice what they have already learned. Play is the child way of learning. It is an essential element of childhood. I value the active involvement of parents in my program through field trips and classroom parties. I feel that I am an extension of your family. It is always important to keep the lines of communication open. Feel free to discuss any thoughts, questions or concerns with me. I welcome all suggestions. Hands on activities are planned which emphasize the process rather than the finished product. Lessons are planned according to a calendar of themes and units. My program is designed to balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet time. I have a sincere love and concern for children.
