About Us

Meet the Trainer

Hello everyone! My name is Courtney and I am a Certified Fitness Trainer with the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). I have been involved with fitness for most of my life, mostly through sport programs but also just for fun on the side. Competitively I have participated in swimming and soccer, and for recreation I enjoy snowblading, cycling, kayaking, and playing volleyball. My other interests include drawing, reading, traveling, and animals (especially marine mammals).

Besides being a Certified Fitness Trainer with the ISSA, I also hold a B.S. Degree in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University. Biobehavioral Health focuses on the roles of one’s behavior, psychology, and culture in creating an entire health picture. Studying this field is what sparked my interest in teaching others the benefits of exercise because, with every new disease or condition I studied, exercise sprang forth as one of the most efficient ways to prevent the illness, to decrease associated risk factors, and even treat some conditions. Exercise seems to be the wonder drug that everyone is seeking and I’ve made it my mission to help as many people discover it as possible.

Personal Training

Whether your goals are to lose weight, to tone or strengthen your muscles, to get better blood test results, or to just get moving, Keys To Fitness is here to motivate you!

Each workout is custom designed to help you achieve your unique goals. All sessions with Keys To Fitness will be held in my home gym. Exercises will be calisthenic, aerobic, and functional in nature and will vary from session to session to keep your body from reaching that dreaded plateau.

Optional baseline and follow up measurements will be recorded to chart progress. Available measurements include, weight, BMI (body mass index), skin fold body fat testing (caliper method), anthropometric measurements, sit up test, and push up test.

Benefits of Exercise

What exercise can do for you:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improve circulation
  • Lower anxiety levels
  • Improve immune function
  • Reduce stress levels
  • Increase energy levels
  • Increase cardiovascular efficiency
  • Increase self image
  • Increase respiratory endurance
  • Increase metabolism

How exercise can help fight common diseases:

Overweight and Obesity: Combined with a healthy diet, aerobic exercise reduces excess body weight leading to a decreased risk for many other major health conditions.

Heart disease: Exercise decreases the risk of heart disease by lowering blood pressure levels, LDL cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, and by reducing percent body fat. In addition, exercise makes the heart beat more efficiently during exercise and while at rest which reduces undue stress on the heart muscle.

Cancer: Exercise has shown to decrease the risk of breast, colon, lung, and uterine cancers.

Osteoporosis: Exercise decreases your risk of osteoporosis by increasing bone density. It also helps improve balance and strengthen muscles to protect your bones during a fall.

Arthritis: Exercise helps the joints move through their full range of motion which decreases swelling and pain.

Type ll Diabetes: Exercise decreases the risk of developing Type ll Diabetes by maintaining a healthy weight, and helps lower excess blood sugar levels of those with the condition.

Testimonials

Jessica

Courtney is an incredible personal trainer. I have struggled with my weight for years. I finally mustered up the resolve to do something about it and Courtney supported me in making that possible. She is eternally patient and knows just how hard to push you so you will see results and keep coming back for more. With her I lost 40 lbs. And I am continuing to lose. Thanks Courtney.

Courtney is a fantastic trainer. She understood I have problems with my knees and she was able to make a training program regimented around my upper body to help me lose weight and take pressure off my knees. After that we started on my lower body and now my knees feel great, and so does the rest of me. I've gone from a 48 waist and now fit into a 38. I went from a 3x shirt down to a large. I feel amazing!!! Thanks Courtney!!
