About Us

Hi Friend,

Thanks for visiting Lakeside on the web. When I surf the web, I’m usually searching for something: tickets to a ballgame, a new book that just came out, or directions to that restaurant I’ve been hearing about. You’re probably searching too. I believe God is an amazing, loving being who searches for us and invites us into a relationship with him.

So as you are searching through our site, you will find touches of God’s grace and invitation. Please accept that as an invitation from us too. We would love to have you participate with us at Lakeside. So, wander around the site. Check out the ministries and activities of the church. And come join us for an event or a worship gathering. We’d love to meet you and help you find what you’re searching for. God bless you.

Life is busy. But when it comes to seeking God, we think options are important. We all make time for the things we believe in and for the things we love. We urge you to find something that drives you, kicks your pulse up and motivates you into the purpose you know you were made for.

So go for it... learn more, get to know people better and be a part of life at Lakeside. It is our hope that through these experiences you will connect more deeply with God.

Let your children grow in their faith at Kidsfest! They will dive into the greatest book ever written through dramas, games, art projects, and other creative ways to learn from the Bible.

The heartbeat of Kidsfest is centered on teaching kids that God loves them!

Keeping the Great Commandment - Love your Lord with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30

Individuals are Valued - I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Psalm 139:14

Discipling Children - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19

Safe - And if anyone causes these little ones who believe in me to sin, it
would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone
around his neck.  Mark 9:42

Fun - Our mouths are filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for
them."  Psalm 126:2

Excellence - And whatever you do in word or in deed, do all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to the Father.  Colossians 3:17

Support One Another - And let us consider how we may spur one another on
toward love and good deeds...let us encourage one another.  Hebrews 10:24

Teaching God's Word - Thy word I have hid in my heart that I might not sin
against thee.  Psalm 119:11

We value teens and understand how important it is to connect to them in today's world. They can get pulled in so many directions...we give them a positive environment to explore their purpose, who God is and why knowing him will lead to a great future.

During times of uncertainty, we must hold on to the security provided by the truth that God knows. He is intimately acquainted with all your ways. He doesn't watch you from a distance. No feeling, no hurt, no scar, no wound has ever escaped His notice.

You don't have to face life alone. If you need help, reach out. There is assistance. There is hope.

If you have a specific need choose an option to the left or contact the church office: 916.985.3245, Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

The moment you come onto our campus there are volunteers serving you. From friendly greeters outside to the musicians on the stage; from teachers in Kidsfest to the greeters on the First Impressions team, Lakeside is totally dependent on volunteers using their gifts and abilities. The Lakesiders who serve each weekend are just a tip of the iceberg. We have teams who assist in the office, plan and serve at special events, operate our bookstore and so much more.

Volunteering is a great way to serve God and get plugged in at Lakeside. It allows you to develop new friends and make an impact in the community.

In all areas of service, you can try out serving without making a commitment up front. Browse the areas on the left and find one that interests you. Let us know of your interest and someone from that team will contact you with more details. If, after trying it, you feel energized about serving in that capacity you can be officially added to the team. But if you decide that particular area is not what jazzes you, feel free to try something else until you find what excites you to serve!

Q: With whom is Lakeside Church affiliated?
A:  Lakeside Church is associated with Next Generation Churches and the Willow Creek Association. We have no denominational ties, but belong to these associations for the purpose of advancing the mission of Jesus Christ. We are autonomous with our own constitution, by-laws, etc.

Q: What does that mean exactly?
A:  An association consists of like-minded churches who have certain convictions in regard to God and His Word, and whose purpose is to partner together for the advancement of God’s kingdom.

Q:  What does “non-denominational” mean?
A:  That a denomination or outside organization does not dictate the direction of the church, or how we use our resources.

Q: What if I don’t understand or agree with parts of Lakeside’s statement of faith?
A:  In order to be a member of the church you do need to sign the statement of faith, but complete agreement is not needed for you to participate in worship at Lakeside. Our statement of faith expresses the historic doctrine of the Christian faith, and is designed to be clear on the essentials and grace-filled on the non-essentials.

Q:  What is the difference between a member and a regular attender?
A: A member is someone who has put himself or herself under the authority of the church leadership and who has agreed to manage their God-given resources (time, talent, treasure) to the benefit of the local church. A regular attender is one who has been coming to Lakeside for a period of time on a regular basis but has not signed a membership covenant.

Q:  Who can get baptized?
A:  Any follower of Christ who has made a profession of faith and understands the significance of baptism.

Q:  Do I need to be a member to serve at Lakeside?
A:  Not in every case. While we encourage membership and membership is required to serve in certain leadership positions, it is not required across the board.

Q: What is the difference between offering and tithing?
A:  In giving a tithe you give 10% of your income. A tithe is a scripture-based amount. An offering is above and beyond that.

Q:  Does the amount I give to the church in offerings and tithes, equate to what I can do or how much I’m involved at the church?
A: No, tithing is a biblical concept dating back to Abraham before the law was given and commanded by Jesus to his followers. It is an act of worship and is set apart from serving.

Q:  What requirements, if any, are there to go to Lakeside events?
A:  There are no requirements to attend an event unless it is a paid event, in which case we would require you to pay. However, scholarships are available for certain events in cases of financial hardship.

Q: Are there any requirements to join a Lakeside small group?
A: No, but you will likely be asked to agree to the covenant that the group has established. This could include confidentiality, being on time, etc.
